Nature Finds in The First Week
It doesn't take long to find some interesting things on five uninhabited acres in Central Texas!
On the first day on the property with the girls, we found an antler shed, which we later learned means good luck. Apparently Native Americans believed these were lucky finds, an represented renewal, change, and growth. What a fitting find for our new property!

We also found a rare vulture nest, with two large eggs on the ground. Mama vulture swooped out of the little tree cave when we got closer, so we quickly left so that she could continue resting with her eggs. A few days later we set up a camera there and hope to see some baby vultures in the near future!

Later in our first week, Ellis spotted several bones. Our neighbor there said that a deer had died maybe five years ago out there. The jaw and teeth were separated from the skull, and several bones scattered around. Something had been nibbling on it.

We also spotted a couple of fox dens, again confirmed by the neighbor. We don't have a picture of those, but we did set up a game camera there as well, in hopes of spotting one.
Last but not least, when Scott was clearing the trail before we took the girls out there, he spotted a heart-shaped cactus pad and set it aside to show us! Isn't he a sweetheart?
